Hardware Setup
| Note: |
| 1. The media converter can be used either as a stand-alone unit
or as a slide-in unit. 2. For the TP port: a. Use straight-through RJ45 Ethernet cable. b. The cable pin-outs for the RJ45 jack are: 1,2,3,6,4,5,7,8 to 1,2,3,6,4,5,7,8. |
Panel Views and Descriptions
| LED | Status | Indication |
| PWR | On | Power is supplied to the device. |
| Off | No power is supplied to the device. |
|
| FX LINK | On | Fiber link is connected to the media converter. |
| Off | No fiber link connected to the media converter. |
|
| ACT | Blinking | A device is transmitting or receiving data in the network. |
| TPLINK100 | On | A 100Mbps device is connected to the TP port. |
| TPLINK1000 | On | A 1000Mbps device is connected to the TP port. |
| Port | Description |
| TP Port (1000TX) | 1. 1000Mbps 2. Auto-negotiation for Nway TP partner 3. Use RJ45 cable to connect to PC or switch |
| Fiber Ports (1000FX) |
1. 1000Mbps 2. Mode Selectable - Auto ON (Default) 3. Use fiber cable with appropriate connector to connect these ports to another converter or switch |
| Note: |
| The fiber link partners should be set at the same duplex mode. |
Cable Connection Parameters1000Base-X network allows 512-bit time delay between any two
node stations in a collision domain. The overall bit-time of TP/Fiber
wires and devices must be within 512 bit in a segment. You may use a
switch to break up collision domain and extend the cabling distance.
Below are the different cable limitations to consider:
1. TP (Cat. 5) Cable: 100m
2. Multi-mode Converter Fiber Cable:
| SC/LC Multi-Mode Converter Models: | |
| Multi-mode 62.5/125um, 850nm |
Node to Node: 220m Node to Switch: 220m |
| Multi-mode 50/125um, 850nm |
Node to Node: 550m Node to Switch: 550m |
2. Single -mode Converter Fiber Cable:
| SC Single-Mode Converter Optional Models: | |
| SC 1310nm |
Node to Node: 10/20/40km Node to Switch: 10/20/40km |
| SC 1550nm |
Node to Node: 40/60/80/100/120km Node to Switch: 40/60/80/100/120km |
