HCL Insys showcases Fault Tolerant Solutions for Enterprises
First in India to complete testing on 64 bit Itanium Servers, Oracle Database &
RAC, Red Hat Linux Advanced Servers
New Delhi, October 22, 2003 -HCL Infosystems Ltd., India's premier information
enabling and integration company, has become the first in the country to complete
the testing of its fault tolerant solutions for Oracle Database with Real Application
Clusters (RAC) on Red Hat Linux Advanced Servers. The solutions, tested on HCL's
64 Bit Itanium Processor based servers, ensures continuous access of Data to the
end users, in a clustered environment, even after failure of one of the nodes
in the cluster. This makes HCL Insys foray into this crucial field in Enterprise
Computing.
The HCL laboratory had recently concluded tests of high application solutions for
Xeon processors. The Itanium based servers used this time employ 64-bit processing,
the key features of which are a high amount of memory, larger floating-point registers
(used for graphical & designing applications), massive parallelism on the
processor and greater processor resources inbuilt into the processor core. The
result is an enhanced performance as the system can make use of the 64-bit architecture
of the operating systems available today.
Talking about the achievement, Mr George Paul, Vice President Marketing, HCL Infosystems
Limited, said, "Our commitment to continually look for partnering with our
clients for evolving solutions which enhance and maximize the value of investments
that companies make in IT is the reasoning behind the continuous tests and initiatives.
Itanium servers are ideally meant to address high-end database requirements of
massive databases or the cluster requirements of high performance computing, making
them ideal for small and medium enterprises across the country.
