New Delhi, January 18 2005: HCL has contributed Rs 5 crore to assist disaster relief efforts in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands that were hit by the TSUNAMI tidal wave on December 26 2004. A contribution of Rs 4 crore was made to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund and Rs. 1 crore to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund. This amount was raised through employee & company contributions.
Mr. Shiv Nadar, Founder HCL said, "At HCL, all of us have been deeply moved by the Tsunami tragedy. As a gesture of our solidarity at the time of such unprecedented loss and sorrow, we have pooled together our contributions and hope this will help ease the suffering of those affected." |
