HCL Infosystems, India’s premier information enabling company, today announced that it has won a 76 crore order from the Department of School Education, Punjab. The order comprises of 18,200 PCs, servers, printers and UPS.
HCL will supply, install and maintain the IT Infrastructure in 1,287 government schools both in rural and urban areas across the state of Punjab as part of this project. The project will help provide information and communication technology (ICT) education to the students of these schools. To begin with, students from class 6 to class 12, in the current session will be targeted through the project and helped to become IT literate – ready to take on the world. The course curriculam would be based on NCERT guidelines and CBSE syallabus.

This is indeed a commendable initiative from the Punjab government.”
Department of School Education Punjab Government has initiated this first of its kind, an innovative and path breaking project. This project would ensure that the students of these 1287 schools are digitally enabled to face tomorrow’s global competition. It would also open up new vistas of learning to these young minds and would expose them to diverse form of learning. India needs many more such projects, if it has to maintain it’s edge in IT and BPO space in view of increasing global competition. Such projects would ensure that our tomorrow’s generation is computer literate.
This would be a large scale state wide deployment, consisting of HCL Infiniti PCs & HCL Infiniti Servers. More than 1600 state-of-the-art Infiniti servers would be deployed for this project.
